Analysis of Guo Pei's Spring 2018 Couture: "Legend"
The Ask.
For this project, I was asked to select one fashion collection from a specific designer or brand that has been active at any time after 1959. The chosen collection must have a visual record, either in full video or still images from the fashion show.
Once the collection of my choice was selected, my task was to conduct a thoughtful analysis. This includes examining the overall theme, design elements, fabric choices, color palette, styling, and any cultural, social or historical influences. The goal is to interpret the creative vision behind the collection and understand how it reflects the designer’s aesthetic and brand identity.

The Outcome
By analyzing Guo Pei’s Spring 2018 Couture “Legend,” I realized that couture is not about luxury or trends—it can be meaningful, evoking emotions, history, and a sense of sacred. Through this process, I developed an appreciation for how much thought, symbolism, and skills goes into creating a collection like “Legend,” and how Guo Pei uses fashion to communicate timeless narratives.
